Pot Cakes Dynasty League Week 10 Preview

Good morning everyone, welcome to the Pot Cakes Dynasty League Week 10 Preview. An electric time of year with all trades firing off, I just hope I didn’t miss any. We will look at our games, Dr. Tilt, and then closing remarks. We only have four weeks left, after this week if you are more than a game out, it’s not over, but it’s not good.

Let’s look at the game of the week.

Teach takes on CrossFit.

v.

The fight for a first round bye is on the line, well not actually but positioning is important. Teach is hot and CrossFit is not. Aaron Rodgers is good at football and fantasy this year, pair that with the Jaguars bad defense and its big numbers in both. Joe Mixon and Chris Carson, if back, are HUGE. The loss of Tyreek Hill may hurt Teach, and D.J. Moore facing the Bucs secondary might cause a low receiving core week for teach. T.J. Hockenson is good at football and will win the TE matchup. CrossFit made the trade for Mike Davis. With CMC’s injury up in the air, he locks in the primary Carolina RB and has a good starter once the decision is made on the injury. Cooper Kupp is going up agains the bad Seattle secondary and should put up good numbers. Everywhere else, the players are hit or miss, Brukhead, Gallman, A.P. and Pascal, not great. Teach is likely a 15 point favorite when he sets his lineup, I’ll take Teach.

Bruce marches on over to Mush’s Mongrels.

v.

Bruce sent Gesicki to Mush for O.J. Howard, a 3rd and a 4th, what a haul. Bruce is on a heater, a win this week could get him out of last place. The problem is his team. J.T. is losing snaps, Fournette is quiet, Godwin is broken, Chark is going up against a lock down corner, Boyd need Burrow to have time to pass, and Emmanuel Sanders has to compete with Kamara and Mikey T. Bruce needs everything to go his way. Mush is still putting up low point totals. His rookie RBs are up and down. Stafford is banged up. James Robinson is very good. Hollywood is not. Njoku now has to deal with Hooper coming back. Mush even, maybe, sources cannot confirm or deny, tried to trade his kicker, THE KICKER. Right now Mush is a 6 point favorite, I’ll take Bruce, he’s the hot hand.

Daddy Wombat goes up against Batman.

v.

This one should be short. The #1 takes on the #10. Daddy Wombat is good, I would know. I like Batman, overall Batman is cool. But Daddy Wombat is going to run through him. Russ, DK, Kamaray, Jeudy, D-Hop, Fuller, Claypool, I mean come on. D.W. smashed the rookie receivers in the draft. His RB 2 spot will be iffy as Joe Mixon is back so Geo Bernard is out, but Gurley is on bye, and he does not have a lot of options. That is the one knock on D.W. this week. Batman needs Lamar to put on a show. He has to gain some ground on the QB play to win this one. Bob Woods, Agholor, and Juju are great plays this weekend. Ronny Jones should get the ball a lot as Carolina is bad against the rush, but Tom needs to throw to his weapons. And that might be frustrating to watch. Batman is also without his kicker Harrison Butker this week. I do think his players use that as motivation, but it won’t be enough. Daddy Wombat is a 18-20 point favorite come kickoff and I think he wins.

Bottom Bunk takes on PeePaw.

v.

B.B. did not like the power rankings. PeePaw did. While some choose to be mad at the media for their votes on who ranks where, these two teams can settle it once and for all. Bottom Bunk can put all his eggs in one basket and hope Dalvin Cook scrabbles up the Chicago defense. That will not be an easy task. Adam Thielen will also have a rough day. If B.B. has “underproductive” days from Cook and/or Thielen, his goose might be cooked. J.D. McKissic has a good matchup against the Lions, and Mike Williams should get those Christian Kirk deep balls that hurt the Miami secondary last weekend. PeePaw and Batman made a big trade. Miles Sanders and a 4th to PeePaw, Myles Gaskin, 1st, and 2nd to Batman. Pretty good trade for all. PeePaw gets to use Sanders this week, PeePaw also is using Ballage, hoping to cash in on some PPR points. Davante Adams will likely have 2 TDs this weekend, so that will help. Jared Goff is the player to watch, he’s going up against the bad Seattle secondary, Goff will either be lights out or he won’t. That will determine the game. PeePaw is favored by 4, and I’ll go with that and the Power Rankings.

Pistol powers on over to Trashman.

v.

Pistol is popping off. Trashman is teetering. This is going to be a good one. Pistol is rocking a great QB in Kyler Murray. Hunt may see less production as Chubb may be back. David Montgomery is not great. Mikey T and Allen Lazard should add a good boost to Pistol’s offense. Gronk and Broadway Bob need to find the end zone, if you are starting two tight ends, one of them has to score. This is a big week for Pistol, a loss here could seal his fate as the odd man looking in at the playoffs. Trashman is trying to spoil Pistol’s playoff plans. Carson Wentz is finally coming around. Zack Moss is a touchdown monster. Aaron Jones, if back is my bet to be RB 1.A-Rob is hot too and has favorable matchups the rest of the way, problem is that he needs a QB to throw him the ball. Can Curty Sam catch fire again this week? I hope so, Trashman had some bad weeks. Trashman is a 4 point favorite and I’m going with Trashman.

JonnyDIII’s Joyful Demons are up against Touchdown Guy.

v.

JonnyDIII has taken a lot of unnecessary heat. For 16 rounds people let QB Justin Herbs fall in the draft, and JD3 scooped him. And now there is a QB controversy, because JD3 has two too good of QBs. Allegedly, if JD3 started Mahomes last week he would have upset the #1 seed Daddy Wombat. I think Daddy Wombat played it right, and the injury bug bit JD3 late in the second round of Sunday’s games. Whatever, JD3 has to play Herbs and Keenan Allen this weekend as Patty Mac is on bye. JD3 has the best QB/WR duo in the league. Touchdown Guy does not care about any of that. Josh Allen is tall. Derrick Henry is about to go on a big run. Mike Evans is not facing his kryptonite so he should bounce back this week. TDG also boasts the kicker who has not missed this year, and that is something to hang your hat on. TDG has some pretty big byes this week with the Falcons being on bye, he’s a 7 point dog, I cannot pick but TDG should be in a good spot.

Now we have some picks.

Some words from Dr. Tilt.

Dr. Tilt’s Week 10 Prescription

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Green Bay Packers O50.5

Jake Luton spoiled a 3-0 record last week with his incredible goal line spin move against the Texans in the final moments of the game.  It was reminiscent of Scott Tolzien playing for the Green Bay Packers against Viking back in 2013.  Tolzien’s spin move was so impressive it even spawned the Doc’s fantasy football team name to be Tornado Tolzien the following year.  But now we’re just off topic.  What have we learned so far?  The Packers will score a lot of points.  The Packers will giveth a lot of points too.  The Jaguars boast the 32nd ranked defense according to DVOA while the Packers are 21st.  The Jaguars are 31st in YAC given up per completion with the Packers just behind them at 30th.  31-20 gets you home but expect 40 from Green Bay.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -4.5 @ Carolina Panthers

Dr. Tilt knows what you’re thinking… they just got killed by the Saints at home.   Some would argue that’s a game they had to have if they don’t want to be a Wild Card team.  Tough look for TB.  However, the doc has a theory.  If a team gets embarrassed on National TV they bounce back big the following week.  Don’t love the theory?  How about some stats, Tom Brady is 44-21 against the spread following a loss.  Expect a dialed in Buccaneers team this week.

Baltimore Ravens -7 @ New England Patriots

The doc gave you the worst defensive team in the first pick now you get the second worst.  The New England Patriots of Bill Belichck reign are the 31st ranked team by DVOA on defense.  They aren’t good on offense either at 23rd.  Lamar Jackson absolutely ran the Patriots off the field last year winning 37-20.  The Patriots had 5+ players opt-out of the season including their best linebackers.  No one can argue Bill’s genius but they don’t have the horses to stop this Ravens attack.  Expect a similar margin in 2020 as we say almost exactly a year ago.

Last Week: 2-1

Season Record: 20-8-1

Thanks Doc.

Well that does it for this week’s review. I will see you next week for the recap. Each week we are closer to the big dance, each week I’m further from it. Either way I hope you and yours have a better tomorrow.

Let’s Go!
