Pot Cakes Dynasty League Week 2 Recap

Good morning everyone, last week we had some stars show out, and this week some stars collapsed. Let’s take a look at the matchups, Dr. Tilt, predictions, and a quick check on rookies. Without further ado the Pot Cakes Dynasty League Game of the Week.

Touchdown Guy v. Teach

v.

This was a high scoring affair. The lead dog and the fifth best score of the week. TDG made the decision to bench Saquon, this move cost him 1.4 points. WOULD IT BE ENOUGH? Well, Derrick Henry showed everyone that he is as big as Josh Allen is tall. Henry scored 44 points. That is a lot of points for those keeping track at home. Elijah Mitchell had a modest day with 6. Melly put up almost 8 points. The Mikes had themselves a day, Evans added 22 and Williams added 18. Julio, Tim Patrick, and Thielen also has a combined almost 40 points. TDG also put up a goose egg in the kicking department. Teach needed points, would he get them? It would all come down to Monday night with Rodgers, Hockenson, and Crosby. Before we got there, Chris Carson scored 2 tds giving him 15 points. Van Jefferson was left out of the Rams offense only adding a single fantasy point. Tyreek Hill held to only 4 points. Production from Marvin Jones, Tee Higgins, and D.J. Moore helped, the trio combined for 45 points. Down big entering Monday night, Teach needed a miracle. Rodgers’ 40, Hockenson’s 16, and Crosby’s 5 were not enough. TDG wins big 167.25 to 141.35.

CrossFit v. Mush’s Mongrels

v.

Mush barely got a win last week, no way he lets his whole family down this week right? CrossFit had a roller coaster lineup. CMC for 22, Locket for 27, Cooper Kupp for 32, and Kelce for 20. CrossFit also had Dak for 12, Amari Cooper for 3, and Robbie Anderson for 5. The sneaky Austin Ekeler received his targets and put up an 18 spot. Overall a good team performance, but would some of those let down performances cost CrossFit the week? Mush had Hollywood put up 20, Deebo with 13, Diontae Johnson with 15, and Dan Carlson the kicker put up a crooked number of 17 points. Mush, known for his depth at RB, proved that depth is not talent. Clyde added 2, Gibby had 8, and Javonte added almost 8 points. Even a swap for Henry Ruggs III’s 20 spot would not have saved the week, CrossFit crushed Mush 166.45 to 128.2.

Pistol v. PeePaw

v.

Pistol is regarded as the worst team in the league. At least that is what we thought, even Pistol maybe. However, Pistol loaded up and Sutton was shot out of a cannon putting up 20 in the absence of Jeudy. Kyler Murray had 46 points, which is a lot. Gronk put up almost 18, and even Broadway Bob had a dozen points. PeePaw needed a win in the worst way. Pistol’s team going off did not help. PeePaw had a solid performance from Dalvin with 15 points, Adams added 16, Jefferson 15, and CeeDee with 13. The big concerns. Aiyuk had another dud week only putting up 2 points. Nelson Agholor added 3. A.J. Brown had 5. PeePaw is stacked at WR, but the stack needs to produce and back to back weeks they have failed. Pistol wins 151.4 to 112.75.

Daddy Wombats v. Bruce

v.

Someone had to win this game. D.W.’s superstar Alvin Kamara put up 5 points. In any other matchup this would be the end of the road for D.W., but going up against last year’s last place finisher, there was still light at the end of the tunnel. Two goose eggs, in Will Fuller V who was listed out earlier in the week, but for whatever reason, even after being told and confirming the information, D.W. still went with Fuller, and Gabriel Davis did not get a ball in the blow out. D-Hop added 13, and Rondale Moore had a Michael Jordan day adding 23 points. Bruce had two sweet sixteen performances with Zeke and Najee combining for 32 points. Chris Godwin added 14. J.T. only had 5, Chark had 2, and Joe Burrow only put up 18. Not having one of this top end superstar performances cost Bruce. D.W. wins in a thriller 106.19 to 105.95.

Trashman v. Bottom Bunk

v.

This was a battle at the bottom. B.B. telling everyone his team is legit, Trashman not saying a word. Who would win? Trashman saved it all for Monday night, needing Aaron Jones to have his best performance of the season to get by B.B., would he? Trevor Lawrence (the 4th overall pick in the rookie draft) put up 11. Peyton Barber 3, Juice Landry 1, Kenny G 5, and Bryan Edwards 5. All these things are bad. Nick Chubb added a safe 16 points. The shocker was Cordelle Patterson putting up 22 points. This positioned Trashman to need a night from Aaron Jones, and he got that, Jones put up 38 points. B.B.’s highest scorer was Calvin Ridley with 15.8 points. That is bad. That is worst team in the league bad. Darrell Hendy put up 15.7. JameO had 10, Edmonds had 10, Corey Davis 1, and Dallas Goedert 3. B.B. is back, in the worst way possible. Trashman bests B.B. 134.68 to 99.35.

Batman v. JonnyDIII’s Joyful Demons

v.

In a battle like no other, Batman took on JD3 twice in one week. The other matchup does not pertain to this league, so it doesn’t count right? Batman only had two double digit scorers, Lamar with 38, and Noah Fant with 11. DeVonta Smith only had 2 and Laviska Shenault put up under a point. In fantasy touchdowns are important, Noah Fant was the only non-QB to find the endzone for Batman, and that would hurt him. JD3 was lead dog for the majority of the week. Terry McLaurin jumped out to a 22 point performance, Pittman added 16, Brandin Cooks added 18, Ja’Marr Chase with 12, Allen had 12, and Stefon Diggs put up 14. The running back room is a concern, Miles Sanders had 6, Kenyan Drake had 8. JD3 had more bench points from Devin Singletary than his starting RBs. It did not matter, JD3 wins 159.25 to 105.45.

Predictions were off. D-Hop, Keenan, and Davante all had ok weeks, double digit weeks between 12-16. Kelce went off for another 20 spot, Waller was missing a touchdown but still had 9. Off on Zeke who put up 16, and had a slightly above average week for a top back. And the Vikings somehow all performed well this week. Missed on the big weeks, missed on the busts. Oops, hopefully Dr. Tilt did better.

Now let’s look at Dr. Tilt’s Week 2 picks.

Week 2: 1-2

Season Record: 2-4

Let’s take a quick look at some of the rookies in the Rookie Recap.

Concerns for DeVonta Smith and the offense he is a part of. No concern over Rondale Moore and the stacked receiving core in Arizona. Ja’Marr is good for one bomb. Pitts is just right. Najee had a bounce back week, but 10 for 38 is a bad rushing stat line for what you want out of him. Michael Carter had a sneaky week. Lawrence, Fields, Sermon, and Waddle, not great. Etienne still on IR. Williams was ok, he gets 10 plus touches a game so you are ok. Trey Lance, well he’s still on the pine. Elijah Mitchell was ok, injury could be a concern going forward. Kenny Gainwell is involved so that’s good long term. Overall, a welcome to the NFL rookie week.

That’s it for Week 2. We have 3 teams unbeaten, Touchdown Guy, CrossFit, and JonnyDIII. At least 1 will remain undefeated next week. You will have to tune in tomorrow to find out who. I expect a lot of movement on the power rankings. Some bad teams lost bad, and some good teams lost their second chance. Until next time, I hope you and yours have a better tomorrow.

Let’s Go!
