Pot Cakes Dynasty League Playoff Round 1 Preview

Good morning everyone, welcome to the Pot Cakes Dynasty League Playoff Preview. Breathe it in baby the playoffs are here. Every team limped into the playoffs and those that flew through all could lose because of one late afternoon Covid announcement. Hopefully, your commissioners have something in place in the event a late late announcement happens. We will look at the Playoff Bracket Matchups including the bye teams, the Consolation Bracket Matchups including the bye teams and explanation of what’s at stake, and we will see if Dr. Tilt can finish the season above .500. No games of the week because they are all games of the week.

Playoff Teams.

#1 Seed – Touchdown Guy

Back to back like I’m on the cover of Lethal Weapon, back to back like I’m Jordan ’96, ’97. Touchdown Guy is looking to repeat. Last year he finished the playoffs as the #1 (was the 3 seed) this year he enters the playoffs as #1. Steal of the year was Bob Woods and James Conner trade with Batman for Elijah Mitchell and two 2nds. Sure, Elijah Mitchell may be the RB for San Fran to come, so Batman did not lose the trade. I want to emphasize that this was a good trade for Batman. But it is also a good trade for TDG, I mean a great trade. TDG is in win now mode. I view James Conner as almost a throw in guy. James Conner got a new team (like he did with Arizona) and took off. TDG biggest concern will be his depth at both RB and WR. Will Melly’s production run out? Will Julio/St. Brown step up? Those are the questions, the answers are the top end guys he has in the other 7 spots on his roster.

#2 Seed – Bruce

Bruce pulled off an insane season. Bruce finished dead last after lying about who he was taking in the draft. Bruce then made a terrible first round draft pick for his team’s long term success. Bruce still ends up as #2 on the year. Bruce has only made two trades in his career, one where he receives O.J. Howard and a 3rd and 4th for Mike Gesicki, and one where he sends Brevin Jordan a 3rd and 4th for Rob Gronkowski. His team has not moved much. His team does move the ball a ton on the ground. Najee, Zeke, JT, and Fournette. Bruce has 3 top 5 RBs and the odd man out is #9. Bruce also is seeing a ton of success with Hunter Renfrow, and expected success from Chris Godwin. Bruce’s concerns come at QB and WR depth. Emmanuel Sanders was hot to start the year but may be questionable the rest of the year with an injury. Joe Burrow has put up a couple bad weeks, which is fine overall, but would end a playoff run. Bruce needs his RBs to win this for him.

Playoff Matchups

#3 Seed CrossFit v. #6 Batman

v.

CrossFit is back in the playoffs. CrossFit and Touchdown Guy are the only two to repeat. CrossFit is without CMC again. CrossFit should start Tom Brady, that is my advice. He has been second guessing himself at QB, just play Brady. CrossFit is hurting at RB. Ekeler is dinged up so, he needs some help. His help has to come from his stacked WRs and TE combo. Kelce and Amari Cooper Kupp need to Lockett in this weekend to put CrossFit in the mix for the championship. Batman had a good draft pick, Chuba Hubbard. He has A.J. Dillon who has turned it on. Batman has all the Dolphins, DeVante Parker and Myles Gaskin. Batman is going to need a miracle, he needs a couple Jakobi Meyers TDs. CrossFit is a 40 point favorite, so I think he gets it done.

#4 Mush’s Mongrels v. JonnyDIII’s Joyful Demons

v.

This is a tight one. Mush has some solid young backs, he has a lot of solid WRs. Mush has Deebo who is booming. Everyone else is solid. Nothing sexy about Mush, he just gets it done. Top to bottom he has solid, he has some bench, he has rookies, he has IR guys, I mean just solid. You have to bring you’re a game. JD3 has that chance. He has some big hitter guys, but they have been boom or bust all year. JD3 is missing RBs but with Diggs, Allen, and Chase, he has to get it done with them. I mean double digits are a need. This is the juiciest matchup of the weekend. Mush is a 1.07 point favorite. We will get a good sense of things after Thursday night, Mahomes, the QB for JD3 is going, that will set the tone. Mahomes needs a good 30 points just to keep it alive.

Consolation Bracket.

Consolation bracket has four picks up for grab. The winner of the consolation bracket gets pick 1.13, second place gets 2.13, third place gets 3.13, and fourth gets 4.13. The two teams mentioned below already are guaranteed an extra pick. They just need a win to get a good pick, 3.13 can still end up with a good backup player. You have a shot at a year 2 guy. You just have to look, or pair your two thirds up to move up a handful of spots, that could do it.

Consolation Byes.

#7 Trashman

Trashman had the best free agency move this year. Cordarrelle Patterson is a machine. Mark Andrews is the TE1 on the year. Cam Akers injury to start and Allen Robinson’s lack of production are the downfall of Trashman’s team. Trashman also missed a chance at a lot of good rookies when he took Trevor Lawrence at the 1.04. Trashman could have had Javonte, DeVonta, or Jaylen. All of these rookies would have helped his team.

#8 Teach

Teach was one of the best teams last year. Now he stinks. I guess Chris Carson was his team? He also has seen inconsistent play from D.J. Moore and Marvin Jones, while both may be coaching issues. Teach’s team is not bad, it is just missing a little more balance. The depth is boom or bust but the ceiling for those guys is lower. Teach needs to find an RB in the offseason. He also needs Rodgers to stay in Green Bay.

#9 PeePaw v. #12 Bottom Bunk

v.

PeePaw was a win away. He just had some injuries and got off to a slow start. A lot of near misses. PeePaw is clicking, Cook, Monty, Lamb, Jefferson, Adams, and Aiyuk. Bottom Bunk has nothing. He has the 1.01. That is it. I do not have a lot of time to discuss B.B. PeePaw is a 73 point favorite. How does this happen? PeePaw by a million.

#10 Pistol v. #11 Daddy Wombat

v.

Pistol has some young guys. He is rebuilding. Kyler, Michael Carter, Kyle Pitts, Brevin Jordan, Kadarius Toney, and A.J. Brown. I mean it is a good group of guys. Daddy Wombat has had a bad year. Team is injured. Guys are missing QBs, guys are blaming their own team, not knowing how to use the taxi. Will Fuller been a mess, D-Hop is done now, Claypool hasn’t worked, and Jeudy hasn’t worked either. D.W. has Kamara, Metcalf, and Rondale. Those are his core. This will actually be a good matchup this weekend. D.W. is a two point favorite. I think this comes down to whether or not Michael Carter is healthy. If Michael Carter is in then so is Pistol, if he’s out so is Pistol.

Now let’s dive into Dr. Tilt.
