Good morning, we are going dive into how the Day 1 Draft went.
Sports! Let’s get it and look at the relevant rookie dynasty players.
Pick 8 – Atlanta Falcons – Drake London – WR – USC
Pick 10 – New York Jets – Garrett Wilson – WR – Ohio State
Pick 11 – New Orleans Saints – Chris Olave – WR – Ohio State
Pick 12 – Detroit Lions – Jameson Williams – WR – Alabama
Pick 16 – Washington Commanders – Jahan Dotson – WR – Penn State
Pick 18 – Tennessee Titans – Treylon Burks – WR – Arkansas
Pick 20 – Pittsburgh Steelers – Kenny Pickett – QB – Pittsburgh
I think these picks only solidify taking Breece Hall at the 1.01. No WR went to a team that makes them instantly a WR1. Maybe Treylon Burks? But that is it.
Let’s dive into pick by pick.
Drake London is now the WR1 for the Falcons for the year 2022. He’s big and will play well opposite of Kyle Pitts. The issue, well who throws him the ball. Drake London does not provide the immediate impact you want, nor does he provide long term success because he is on the Falcons.
Garrett Wilson finds himself on a team with three WRs already. Davis, Moore, and Berrios. I understand this puts him ahead of either Moore or Berrios, but still. It’s not like he is the clear cut guy. Bad landing spot for a stud WR.
Chris Olave is arguably the best. But the Saints, no thanks. JameO will huck it up, but with Mikey T and Olave, Olave isn’t the clear guy tonight.
Jameson Williams for the Lions is incredible. The Lions need a WR to play opposite of St. Brown. Jameo might be a Week 9 on guy bouncing back from his knee injury, but he seems to be the guy that is the best WR and also has a good fit. Jared Goff is a better QB than the other guys. I said what I said.
Jahan Dotson for the Washington Commanders is the worst offensive pick in the first round. Washington is a dumpster.
Treylon Burks is my favorite WR in the draft. He goes to a team that loves to run it. This is not fun for dynasty.
Kenny Pickett is the only QB in the first. I do not love it. I do not think you take a QB in the first round of a rookie draft based on this. Unless Malik Willis falls to the Saints or Seahawks in the second, then maybe for a year 2 guy.
Let’s go through a quick first round of the Rookie Mock.
1.01 – Breece Hall – RB – Unknown
None of these WRs went to a spot that has a proven QB to put them in the WR1 category on the year.
1.02 – Chris Olave – WR – New Orleans Saints
I think Olave ends up in a spot that makes him a possible WR1. Mikey T is injured a lot. Olave could be the guy. JameO loves chucking the pigskin. Olave has the best outlook as a year 1 guy and long term.
1.03 – Drake London – WR – Atlanta Falcons
This is solely based on the fact that the Falcons cannot throw the ball to anybody else. London is a monster, he is size wise the closest thing to Julio the Falcons could draft. He is not Julio, but he is the Julio of this draft, maybe. Big and can get money after the catch. Drake is so hot right now.
1.04 – Jameson Williams – WR – Detroit Lions
Williams is the new #1 for the Lions. Once he’s healthy he can be in place for the best WR of this draft. You have to worry about the knee injury, but my goodness medicine is tight right now.
1.05 – Garrett Wilson – WR – New York Jets
Strictly here based on talent. Jets have a lot of weapons and a bad offense, so they spread the ball around but don’t have the ball enough to make a monster impact.
1.06 – Treylon Burks – WR – Tennessee Titans
Titans get rid of Brown and immediately replace him with Burks. The problem is the Titans run the ball and Brown was hit or miss when it was just him. Corey Davis, not a monster, but took some pressure off Brown. Now it’s just Burks, and that is not super sexy for me.
1.07 – Kenneth Walker – RB – Unknown
At this point we cannot trust the WRs, so you go RB and hope it works.
1.08 – Christian Watson – WR – Unknown
Too big and too fast to let someone else go ahead of him. Also, he probably ends up on a team that has a QB.
1.09 – George Pickens – WR – Unknown
See Christian Watson but take some speed off.
1.10 – Jahan Dotson – WR – Washington Commanders
Guy is too small to be picked higher but drafted too high to be picked lower.
1.11 – Isaiah Spiller – RB – Unknown
Need to get a third RB off the board just based on value.
1.12 – John Mechie – WR – Unknown
Guy is good at sports, not enough skilled guys drafted to make an argument against him.
1.13 – David Bell – WR – Unknown
Bell is underrated due to number of games played with the whole Covid thing. Bell and Burks were hyped up prior to the 2022 season, I’m going to trust people’s original gut before I go to a different guy.
With that said, Bottom Bunk is on the clock.

Well that does it. Kind of a boring draft for us Dynasty nerds. If you have a handful of picks in this year’s dynasty draft, you are in for a world of hurt. Bad year to tank, great year to go all in and win it all and brag every chance you get about it. Have fun watching the draft and until then I hope you and yours have a better tomorrow.
Let’s Go!
