Pot Cakes Dynasty League 2022 Draft Grades

Good morning everyone, welcome to the Pot Cakes Dynasty League Draft Grades. We had a flawless draft, picks were flying in, people were drafted right under peoples’ noses, some managers got steals, and others reached. We will first look at the draft picks and then get into each individual draft grade.

Before we get into the grades it is important to know that we grade on a bell curve. Outliers really throw mess with the average. Good for some, bad for others.

1.01Bottom BunkBreece Hall – RB – NYJ
1.04Bottom BunkDrake London – WR – ATL
1.08Bottom BunkJameson Williams – WR – DET
1.10Bottom BunkGeorge Pickens – WR – PIT

Bottom Bunk had the first pick of the draft and he finally got it right. Breece is a solid addition to the team and the only “sure thing” from the RB position. The first three WRs were good picks too. It’s really tough to point a finger at some picks and blame B.B. His team is so bad he can add these guys to his taxi with no issue. Bell, Spiller, and Tolbert are all behind some guys. Ridder is a nice late addition. Overall, B.B. did a good job, like teams with a lot of picks if you just take best available it is tough to give them a bad grade.

Bottom Bunk Draft Grade: A

2.01Daddy WombatDameon Pierce – RB – HOU
3.02Daddy WombatPierre Strong Jr. – RB – NE
4.01Daddy WombatVelus Jones Jr. – WR – CHI
5.02Daddy WombatJeremy Ruckert – TE – NYJ

Daddy Wombat traded away a top pick for James Robinson. They drafted a running back that might be the future of the Texans. Everyone else is a chance just, but that’s the game we play when you draft outside of the first round. The good news for D.W. is that they are in the running for the top pick next year.

Daddy Wombat Draft Grade: B+

1.02PistolGarrett Wilson – WR – NYJ
1.03PistolKenny Walker – RB – SEA
1.09PistolSkyy Moore – WR – KC
1.13PistolRachaad White – RB – TB

5.03PistolSamori Toure – WR – GB

Pistol had a lot of picks. Pistol made a lot of good ones. He has three starters, four backups, and two “who cares, maybe” picks. I think the most intriguing picks are Rachaad White and Jerome Ford. Those two guys have a long-term shot. Think A.J. Dillon situations. The off-season will decide their fates.

Pistol Draft Grade: A

2.13PeePawWan’Dale Robinson – WR – NYG
4.08PeePawTy Chandler – RB – UNC
5.04PeePawMatt Corral – QB – CAR

PeePaw traded all his picks in hopes of a repeat championship contender run. That fell apart quickly. PeePaw still finds himself in a good spot with his team next year, but these draft picks are not going to help him at all. He grabbed a little man, a handcuff and a future QB.

PeePaw Draft Grade: B

1.05TeachTreylon Burks – WR – TEN
1.11TeachJames Cook – RB – BUF
2.04TeachAlec Pierce – WR – IND
3.05TeachKhalil Shakir – WR – BUF
3.13TeachKenny Pickett – QB – PIT
4.04TeachTyler Badie – RB – BAL
5.05TeachTy Goodson – RB – GB

Teach made a bad trade in the offseason. He needed to make upgrades across the board. Teach did just that. Teach may have the best rookie WR for this season, not saying long term, but for immediate production, Burks is the guy. James Cook is on a team that does not like running the ball, but he has a decent shot at taking over as the RB1 this year. Time will tell. Teach has the only rookie QB that should start every game this year. Everyone else is a stash.

Teach’s Draft Grade: A-

1.06TrashmanChristian Watson – WR – GB
2.06TrashmanTyler Allgeier – RB – ATL
3.06TrashmanTyquan Thornton – WR – NE
4.06TrashmanKyle Phillips – WR- Ten
5.06TrashmanKevin Harris – RB – NE

Trashman made the biggest reach pick in the first round. Christian Watson ahead of Olave and Williams is a bad pick. Trashman is unlikely to compete for the championship this year, so “waiting” for Williams to develop would have been a great pick. Allgeier was the hottest name in the draft chat as the Falcons RB spot is wide open. With him being a 5th rounder, that’s not completely unreasonable to think that he can end up being the Falcons RB1. Tyquan Thorton was a Second round pick and went in the Third Round for this draft. That has to be a value. The only issue is that the Patriots are inconsistent with their WR fantasy production. Either way an ok draft by Trashman.

Trashman’s Draft Grade: B

1.07BatmanChris Olave – WR – NO
2.02BatmanJahan Dotson – WR – WASH
2.07BatmanTrey McBride – TE- ARI
2.10BatmanZamir White – RB – LAV
3.01BatmanMalik Willis – QB – TENN
3.04BatmanKyren Williams – RB – LAR
3.07BatmanKeaontay Ingram – RB – ARI
5.07BatmanCalvin Austin III – WR – PIT
5.12BatmanDavid Njoku – TE – CLE

The argument can be made that Batman had the best draft out of anyone. Batman drafted a top WR, drafted another solid WR, drafted the TE1, drafted an RB that has a clear shot at RB1 for the team the following year, the mobile QB, three other guys, and a TE vet that just received a huge deal. Olave, Dotson, McBride, White, Willis, and Njoku all are good picks. The fact that Batman was able to get Zamir White so late is a great pick for him.

Batman’s Draft Grade: A

2.08MushBrian Robinson Jr. – RB – WAS
5.08MushMatt Ryan – QB – IND

Mush did not have a lot of chances to add more mongrels to his team. He added the handcuff for Antonio Gibson and drafted a veteran QB. Mush already has a veteran QB, but it was pick 60. Mush has to rely on the team he had for the season, luckily his draft grade does not have to.

Mush’s Draft Grade: B

2.09CrossFitJohn Metchie III – WR – HOU
3.09CrossFitCharleston Rambo – WR – CAR
4.05CrossFitGreg Dulcich – TE – DEN
4.09CrossFitJashaun Corbin – RB – NYG
5.09CrossFitJerrion Ealy – RB – KC

CrossFit did not have a first rounder, he still grabbed a stud WR. Metchie was injured and fell way down the draft board. Then CrossFit grabbed two late round RBs that may find themselves with playing time due to the injury prone starters. CrossFit loves RBs that get hurt, maybe he catches a break with one of these two flyers. CrossFit woke up and made his picks in a timely manner.

CrossFit’s Draft Grade: B

3.10Touchdown GuyDanny Gray – WR – SF
5.10Touchdown GuyBrittain Brown – RB – LAV

Touchdown Guy went all in and came up just short. He has one chip so tough to feel bad for the guy. TDG grabbed a dude that runs a 4.3 in the late third. He also has a potential handcuff/heir to throne of his bell cow Josh Jacobs. Decent draft.

Touchdown Guy’s Draft Grade: B

2.11BruceJustyn Ross – WR – KC
5.11BruceMontrell Washington – WR – DEN

Not a lot to say here. Bruce had two picks and missed them both. Arguably the worst draft of all-time. No NFL teams drafted these two guys, only Bruce drafted these guys.

Bruce’s Draft Grade: F

2.12JonnyDIIITyrion Davis-Price – RB – SF
3.12JonnyDIIISnoop Connor – RB – JAX
4.07JonnyDIIIMarlon Mack – RB – HOU
4.10JonnyDIIICade Otton – TE – TB
4.12JonnyDIIIErik Ezukanma – WR – MIA

Biased, but is the Champ back? JD3 came in with bad draft capital. JD3 walked away with an RB in a messy backfield, a handcuff for his last year’s early pick, a Vet that is the RB1 to start the year, Gronk Jr.?, and a guy from his favorite team. To be honest, none of these guys are great, but all a guy can do is make the most of his situation. Marlon Mack provides the RB security needed and the upside of a rookie TE are the only things that make the draft. The fact that they were 4th rounders seals the deal.

JonnyDIII’s Draft Grade: B

That does it for the Pot Cakes Dynasty League Rookie Draft Grades. It should be another good year. We did not get as many trades this year as the previous year, but that does not mean that we will not see a couple as the season nears. We have our first set of waivers going through Wednesday morning. It is an exciting time. I know one fantasy manager that has at least 10 waiver claims in already. This will give us all a reason to wake up on Wednesday. Can’t wait. Until next time I hope you and yours have a better tomorrow.

Let’s Go!
