Pot Cakes Dynasty League Top 10s, Sleepers, and Busts

Good morning everyone, welcome to the Pot Cakes Dynasty League Top 10s, Sleepers, and Busts. We have football on soon, time to gear up for fantasy drafts. We look at just general top 10s with honorable mentions, Sleepers that won’t be drafted, and the Busts by position for each team in our league. We got a mixed bag all in one. Have fun watching the game and get ready for some ball.

Top 10 Fantasy QBs

1.      Josh Allen – QB – Buffalo

2.      Justin Herbert – QB – Los Angeles

3.      Kyler Murray – QB – Arizona

4.      Tom Brady – QB – Tampa Bay

5.      Patrick Mahomes – QB – Kansas City

6.      Lamar Jackson – QB – Baltimore

7.      Jalen Hurts – QB – Philadelphia

8.      Russell Wilson – QB – Denver

9.      Joe Burrow – QB – Cincinnati

10.  Matthew Stafford – QB – Los Angeles

Honorable Mentions – Rodgers but he has new WRs. Prescott but he plays for the Cowboys. Derek Carr but he’s Derek Carr.

When finding a fantasy QB it is important to find someone who is able to pick up a free 3-6 points a week just on the run game. The only QBs that will not hit that mark are TB, Pat, Joe, and Matt Staff. The other 6 are locks for it. The two big separators for QBs are passing TDs and rushing. If you can’t run you better throw a TD, and if you can’t throw a TD you better run. The Top 10 above are the best of both categories with the edge going to the tallest QB. Mahomes takes a big hit in the rankings due to losing Tyreek. The surprise candidate would be Kyler, but he is going to be real angry this year and I think he tries to take over games on the ground more.

Top 10 Fantasy RBs

1.      Christian McCaffrey – RB – Carolina

2.      Jonathan Taylor – RB – Indianapolis

3.      Dalvin Cook – RB – Minnesota

4.      Austin Ekeler – RB – Los Angeles

5.      Joe Mixon – RB – Cincinnati

6.      Derrick Henry – RB – Tennessee

7.      Aaron Jones – RB – Green Bay

8.      Nick Chubb – RB – Cleveland

9.      D’Andre Swift – RB – Detroit

10.  Najee Harris – RB – Pittsburg

Honorable Mentions – Alvin Kamara but the suspension is looming. Fournette but he is old. Saquon but he is Saquon. Javonte but he is splitting time.

CMC is the best RB, he just has to be healthy. There are stats and when there are a large amount of targets up for grabs the RB sees a large increase in targets. I do not want to upset any RBs, but of the top 15 RBs, Aaron Jones is a worse route runner then CMC and Kamara. The other guys are not as sharp as Jones. Najee was a top 4 RB last year, but the volume should not be the same this year if the Steelers value Najee long term.

Top 10 Fantasy WRs

1.      Justin Jefferson – WR – Minnesota

2.      Cooper Kupp – WR – Los Angeles

3.      Davante Adams – WR – Oakland

4.      Ja’Marr Chase – WR – Cincinnati

5.      CeeDee Lamb – WR – Dallas

6.      Deebo Samuel – WR – San Francisco

7.      Stefon Diggs – WR – Buffalo

8.      Mike Evans – WR – Tampa Bay

9.      Terry McLaurin – WR – Washington

10.       Michael Pittman Jr. – WR – Indianapolis

Honorable Mentions – Tyreek and Waddle but only one ball and Tua has it. A.J. Brown but he has Jalen Hurts as QB. Mike Williams but he has Keenan Allen to split with. Diontae/Metcalf/Moore but they have no QB.

Obviously, 8 through 15 are a coin flip. However, only Scary and Pittman are their teams obvious #1. Mike Evans does it every year and Godwin is out and Gronk is out (for now), Julio will just replace those guys production, not take from Evans. I get burned on ignoring elite talent because of an average QB and/or above average WR pairing. Just know that one of the Miami, Seattle, Denver, or Los Angeles Chargers WRs will sneak into the top 10, but it’s just not worth the gamble ahead of these 10 guys.

Top 10 Fantasy TEs

1.      Travis Kelce – TE – Kansas City

2.      Mark Andrews – TE – Baltimore

3.      George Kittle – TE – San Francisco

4.      Darren Waller – TE – Oakland

5.      Dalton Schultz – TE – Dallas

6.      Dallas Goedert – TE – Philladelphia

7.      Kyle Pitts – TE – Atlanta

8.      Dawson Knox – TE – Buffalo

9.      T.J. Hockenson – TE – Detroit

10.  Hunter Henry – TE – New England

Honorable Mentions – Pat Freiermuth and Gesicki but both are waiting on their QB to prove it.

There is not a lot to point out here. Pitts is less likely to catch TDs. Schultz caught a whole mess of them and Goedert has the TE position to himself. That is really the only thing worth mentioning. TEs are really only about the top 4 and then the rest will frustrate you no matter what.

Sleepers

For sleepers we are looking at guys that are guys that are double digit rounds and maybe even undrafted.

Donovan Peoples-Jones – WR – Cleveland

Deshaun or no Deshaun, DPJ is the WR2 here. Last year he showed that he can make a big play. The play action pass should open things up for DPJ, it will just be a matter of if Jacoby can get him the ball.

Kadarius Toney – WR – New York

I mean come on, you get a WR1 for a team as your last pick you have to take the flyer. No one has any clue what is going to happen for the G-Men, but you have to think Toney’s speed and youth take over the WR1 spot for the Giants. With the focus on Saquon as always, Toney should get some touches.

Jalen Tolbert – WR – Dallas

Tolbert has some size and was a third rounder. The injury bug has bit Dallas and Tolbert is a great last pick add. It is Lamb, Schultz, and Tolbert for the start of the season.

Curtis Samuel – WR – Washington

McLaurin is the guy in Wash, but Ron Rivera went out and got Curty Sam, he just was injured last year. Michael Pittman Jr. put up 1,000 yards with Wentz. Pittman does a lot of drag, short routes. This is more comparable to the routes and gameplan I would think River Boat Ron will incorporate for Curty Sam. With you last pick you can take a shot at a rookie or a vet people forgot about.

Damien Williams – RB – Atlanta

Cordarrelle is a “running back” this year. I have to think there will be a lot of packages either with Cordarrelle split out or with him catching a breather. This leaves the door open for Damien. If Damien does not get snaps in the first couple weeks, he’s your cut guy. I just cannot see a situation that 6’2, 31 year old WR converted RB is the workhorse for the Falcons.

Mike Davis – RB – Baltimore

With injuries to Dobbins and Edwards, there is a chance that Davis is the RB in Baltimore for the first couple weeks. The Ravens are a run first team. Davis is by no means a season long play, but he could help you get off to a good start.

Austin Hooper – TE – Tennessee

Hooper steps into a void. The Titans did not get it going at the position last year. The year before Jonnu had an alright year. The thing that gives Hooper hope is that he’s done it before and the Titans have 150 available targets. You have to think Tannehill relies on Hooper, especially with the play action pass with D-Train.

Busts

This is soley looking at the Pot Cakes Dynasty League starting positions.

Quarterbacks: Trashman, Teach, and Bottom Bunk

Trashman has the QBs of Baker Mayfield, Carson Wentz, and Trevor Lawrence. I do not see any of those guys finishing in the top 12 of QBs. It will be a long year for Trashman at QB.

Teach will have the difficulty of wanting to play Trey Lance over Aaron Rodgers. If Teach is smart, which hopefully he is, he puts Trey on the Taxi and just rides A-Rodg until he has to put Trey in for the bye week. This saves him a roster spot and lets him see if he has a QB in Trey Lance.

Bottom Bunk has Tua Tagovailoa and Deshaun Watson. Tua is unlikely to reach the top 12 of QBs and Deshaun might be done (at least for one year) in the NFL. Bottom Bunk still has a lot of holes to fill on his team, but at least he has Kenneth Walker III and some young WRs to watch grow over the season.

Running Backs: JonnyDIII, Mush, and Teach

JonnyDIII has Miles Sanders, Travis Etienne, Devin Singletary, and Kareem Hunt as potential starters. These guys all are hovering in that RB2 range. That is not super promising. Plus, they all are so close that there may be weeks JD3 misses on who to play. This will be his biggest headache much like last year.

Mush has J.K. Dobbins, Javonte Williams, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and Antonio Gibson as potential starters. J.K is banged up, Javonte has Mel to compete with still, Clyde could lose his spot, and Gibby might not get the goal line work. I am not saying this is a bad group of guys, but last year at this time we all felt a lot better about these RBs.

Teach has Joe Mixon, Tony Pollard, and Rhamondre Stevenson as his potential starters. There is a clear issue here in that his RB2 will be the RB2 of their respective team. That is a problem. Teach needs an RB in the worst way. Teams have worse guys, but those teams stink. Teach’s RBs might cost him a playoff spot.

Wide Receivers: Daddy Wombat, CrossFit, and Trashman

Daddy Wombat has Metcalf, Jeudy, Claypool, D-Hop, Will Fuller, Gabriel Davis, and Rondale Moore as his potential starters. That’s a lot of guys, but D-Hop is out for 6 games, Fuller is unsigned, Metcalf has a bad QB, and Claypool is dinged up. The only lock is Jeudy and he has to fight for targets with Sutton on a run heavy team. While numbers are good, you do not look at any of those guys and feel thrilled with your WR1.

CrossFit has Cooper Kupp, Amari Cooper, Tyler Lockett, Robbie Anderson and that’s the end of the list. This is a WR league both the NFL and how the dynasty format is set up. Cooper Kupp is incredible but who’s next? Amari Cooper, Lockett, and Robbie are all without a great QB and only Cooper is the WR1 of his team. This is an issue. CrossFit is looking to make up a lot of ground with Ekeler and CMC, but you still need a lot of production from your WR2 spot and CrossFit will have inconsistency there all year.

Trashman has Allen Robinson, Jarvis Landry, Curtis Samuel, Kenny Golladay, and Bryan Edwards. I think Allen Robinson will be good and I said Curty Sam is a sleeper, but these are not stud guys. Trashman needs to make some moves at the WR position either now or in the draft going forward.

Tight Ends: JonnyDIII

JonnyDIII has Gerald Everett, Logan Thomas, and Cade Otton. This makes a guy sick. JD3 punted on this position and it is a glaring issue on his team. If JD3 wins the TE matchup against you, you either had your TE1 on bye or you stink.

Well that does it for the Top 10s, Sleepers, and Busts. Hopefully we get some trades moving. Best of luck on all your re-draft leagues and good luck winning the ship. If you are lucky, your league will even have a trophy to give out. We will see you next time at the Week 1 preview. Until then I hope you and yours have a better tomorrow.

Let’s Go!

JonnyDIII
