Good morning everyone, welcome to the Pot Cakes Dynasty League Week 1 Preview. We made it, it’s time. We got sports. Football the Football. Little twist on this year, our Commissioner commissioned and now we have our 11 Starters, 9 Bench, 5 Taxi (first and second year players only, and 2 IR spots (IR/Suspension). If you are the Commissioner and you are reading this, give yourself a pat on the back. Rosters are set, teams had $200 in waivers to spend on free agents, some teams have spent some money while others are sitting on a gold mine. Without further ado, let’s dive into the Week 1 matchups and our unsponsored game of the week.
Game of the week.

v.

Touchdown Guy v. PeePaw
What a way to start the season. The original championship game rematch. I would have to look, but I think everyone would agree that TDG is undefeated in Game of the Weeks against PeePaw. TDG has the tall Josh Allen, D-Train, James Conner, Saquon, Josh Jacobs, Bob Woods, Mike Evans, St. Brown, Thielen, and Kittle. TDG made a recent trade sending Mike Williams and Melvin Gordon to Mush for Antonio Gibson, Brian Robinson, Michael Gallup and 2 second rounders. TDG also traded a 4th for Kenyan Drake. TDG is looking for Allen and his stable of backs to carry him far this year. TDG is a little old and little light at WR, if Gallup is back to full speed by Week 3 then he will just have to keep an eye on the waiver wire. PeePaw has Herbert, Cook, Monty, Adams, CeeDee, Aiyuk, Justin Jefferson, Mikey T, Schultz and Irv Smith. PeePaw has Ridley and Gus Edwards in his IR spots, the rest of the bench is light. Jeff Wilson, Josh Reynolds, Foreman, McKenzie, and Wan’Dale Robinson. PeePaw’s full strength lineup will be tough to compete with. Getting a perennial powerhouse in one of the weeks he’s full strength is less than ideal. PeePaw needs Herb to finish as a top 3 QB, Monty to finish top 15 RB, JJ, Lamb, and Adams to be all top 8. It’s doable but not ideal. TDG is projected as the lead dog and PeePaw is lead dog runner-up. TDG is projected at 155ish and PeePaw is 151. I have to take the odds here and go with TDG in this Week 1 matchup. Give me TDG to start at 1-0 and remain lead dog heading into Week 2.

v.

CrossFit v. Pistol
CrossFit has a 3 headed monster at QB with Brady, Dak, and Justin Fields. Once he figures that out the remainder of his starting lineup is CMC, Ekeler, Mike Davis, Amari Cooper Kupp, Tyler Lockett, Robbie Anderson, Kelce and Ertz. His bench consists of Mark Ingram, Freiermuth, Mostert and Abdullah. That’s a thin team, but he has top end talent. He should make some moves with his QBs to add a little depth. Pistol is a young team. Kyler, Michael Carter, Ken Walker, Toney, Sutton, Lazard, A.J. Brown, Garrett Wilson, Pitts, and Gage. His bench has Nyheim Hines, Jordan Love, Randall Cobb, Rachaad White, Skyy Moore, Brevin Jordan, Robert Tonyan, and Berrios. CrossFit is about 151 to 127 favorite and I will take CrossFit.

v.

Trashman v. Mush’s Mongrels
Trashman has a QB carousel himself, T-Law, Cam Newton, Wentz, Mayfield, and Daniel Jones. Do not ride this carousel as it might fall apart. The other starters are Codarrelle Patterson, Aaron Jones, Penny, Chubb, A-Rob, Juice Landry, Kalif Raymond, and Curty Sam. On his bench he has Cam Akers, Kenny G, and Bryan Edwards. Trashman will have a tough road ahead. Mush has Matty Staff, Clyde, Dobbins, Javonte, Paris Campbell, Mike Will, Hollywood Brown, Diontae Johnson, Knox, and Deebo. On the bench is Mel Gordon, Hardmen, Hendy, Corey Davis, and OBJ. Mush has some guys but none of them are top end guys. But consistency is key. Mush is a 134 to 122 point favorite. Mush will get it done.

v.

Teach v. Bottom Bunk
Teach is sneaky. Teach has A-Rodg, Mixon, Pollard, Stevenson, Marvin Jones, Tyreek, Waddle, Higgins, Hockenson and Van Jefferson. The bench is weak. A.J. Green and K.J. Osborn. He has two rookies, Doubs who is a future hall of famer, but not yet, and Alec Pierce. Bottom Bunk is an absolute trainwreck. Tua, Breece Hall, Drake London, Chase Edmonds, George Pickens, Tolbert, Goedert, Kendrick Bourne, and Christian Kirk. On his bench he has McKissic, Spiller, Watkins and Shepard. B.B. needs everyone to hit, until then he will not be hitting too many wins. Teach in a landslide.

v.

Batman v. Bruce
Batman has a couple guys and needs a couple more to flip the switch. Lamar Jackson, D’Andre Swift, Elijah Mitchell, A.J. Dillon, Jakobi Meyers, DeVonta Smith, Olave, Juju, Fant and Waller. On his bench he has MVS, Zay Jones, Devante Parker, Shenault and Gaskin. The bench is thin. Bruce is fresh off of his championship loss. Bruce has Joey B, Zeke, Najee, Fournette, D.J. Moore, Bateman, Renfrow, J.T. Chris Godwin and Hunter Henry. On the bench we have D.J. Chark, Pascal, Boyd and Damien Harris. On his IR he has Justyn Ross second round draft pick. Bruce is projected 148 and Batman at 129. I think Bruce’s backs get it done. Problem for Bruce is that Batman thrives in the underdog role.

v.

JonnyDIII’s Joyful Demons v. Daddy Wombat
JD3 is fresh off of the championship. He returns with Pat Mahomes, Miles Sanders, Etienne, Diggs, Pittman, Chase, Keenan Allen, Brandin Cooks, McLaurin and Gerald Everett. This bench is stacked with backups, Hunt, Singletary, Michel, Hamler, Peoples-Jones, Mooney, Elijah Moore and Nico Collins. JD3’s weaknesses are the same as always, question marks at RB across the board and a just a body at tight end. Daddy Wombat is in the running for a top pick. Daddy Wombat has Hurts, Kamara, James Rob, Metcalf, Jeudy, Higbee, Claypool, Kmet, Pringle and Gabriel Davis. On his bench is Will Fuller who should get signed? D-Hop who has a suspension, Damien Williams and Denzel Mims. JD3 is a 152 point projection and D.W. is about a 112 point projection. JD3 should keep the hot streak going and extend the winning streak into another season.

Dr. Tilt’s Week 1 Prescription
Bills @ Rams +2.5
The defending champions kickoff the 2022 season, and Dr Tilt’s picks, with a home game against the Bills. Since 2004, the reigning champ has hosted the opener. In those 17 occasions the champs are 10-5-2 against the spread. On top of this, McVay is 5-0 against the spread in week 1. Combining all this together, makes this an easy system play for the doctor.
Chiefs @ Cardinals +6
This offseason, much was made of Kyler Murray’s KDR, but not much has been made about Kliff’s ATS record. In the first half of seasons, Kliff is 16-5 against the spread for the Cardinals (and was 17-6-1 ATS at Texas Tech). With the Chiefs changing offensive look due to the loss of Tyreek, that home dog Cardinals are exactly what the doctor ordered.
Giants @ Titans -5.5
The Titans host the opener against the New York Giants. The Giants fan’s hopes have never been higher with a new coach and their best offensive line in years. Daniel Jones still must step up to prove he belongs. The doctor is not buying the hype, fade the Giants and Jones. New coaches over the past 4 seasons are 7-16 against the spread in week 1. Expect Vrabel to use all the Titans off season disrespect as bulletin board material.
Well that does it for Week 1. The quest for the championship trophy (which we do not have yet so if you are the commissioner maybe take one pat on the back away) starts now. Good luck in all your leagues and may the fantasy gods be in your favor. I hope you and yours have a better tomorrow. We will see you after all the games with the Week 1 Recap.
Let’s Go!
