Pot Cakes Dynasty League Week 8 Preview

Good morning everyone, welcome to the Pot Cakes Dynasty League Week 8 Preview. We are half way through the regular season. We have a week where there are no winning teams playing each other. This is a big week to separate the league. With no big matchups we have to ride the hot hand. We will look at our Game of the Week, Matchups, Dr. Tilt will look to remain perfect, and an all new Power Rankings.

Game of the week.

v.

CrossFit v. Mush’s Mongrels

CrossFit is coming off of a big win and so is Mush. If Mush pulls out a win, he and CrossFit will be .500 on the season. The league is still anyone’s (but Bottom Bunk’s) to win. CrossFit is still having a huge QB controversy. It looks like he is going with Dak this week. CrossFit has only added to his to his RB stable. Ekeler is out on bye, but Raheem Mostert is back in the mix. Saquon is at full force and it is looking like CMC might have a honeymoon in San Francisco. CrossFit also has Amari Cooper and Tyler Lockett. CrossFit has St. Brown and Duvernay who has been a sneaky start. CrossFit still has an issue with his flex spot, he is rocking Ertz as his tight end, but he also has Freiermuth in his lineup. Freiemuth has been up and down just like all the tight ends. Starting two tight ends is not what you want. Mush is riding out Geno at QB. He also has D-Hendy. I do not know about you, but entering this season starting those two guys would have been a real head scratcher. Paris Campbell has been receiving a lot of short passes, but the QB change in Indy may change that. Christian Kirk and Diontae Johnson have been having up and down years, Mush needs an up week from these guys. Mush is going with 2 TEs too, Knox and Taysom. Taysom is unlikely to get much work with JameO back in the lineup, but we will see. Mel Gordon might be the starter? Who knows. Last but not least, Mush has Deebo, he has an injury but he also has a division matchup, he might have to start. CrossFit is a 25 point favorite, I think he takes this one.

v.

Bruce v. Daddy Wombat

Bruce is hoping Joey B continues to catch fire. Bruce also is seeing work from Zeke, less from Najee, Fournette had a down week, and maybe JT finally gets right with the young QB under center. Bruce has D.J. Moore, Bateman, Godwin, and Tyler Boyd. These WRs all have a lot of upside, but the QBs have been inconsistent this year to say the least. D.W. has Hurts back, then Dameon Pierce, and D-Hop are the only ones he has back. James Rob is on the move to the big apple and isn’t someone he can count on for this week. Metcalf is injure and likely out this week. Claypool may be on the move so who knows how much he will be used. Jeudy had a solid week, but the QB concerns in Denver are an issue for him. Bruce is likely to be an 11 point favorite come this weekend, things could get dicey for Bruce, but I think he still gets the win.

v.

Bottom Bunk v. PeePaw

There are not enough adjectives in the dictionary to describe what the outcome of this game will be. Bottom Bunk is starting newly acquired Rex Burkhead. Jimmy G, J.D. McKissic, Chase Edmonds, Jamaal Williams, Drake London, George Pickens, Sammy Watkins, and who could forget Justin Tucker. PeePaw has his own Justin, Justin Jefferson one of the best fantasy WRs in the league. Dalvin Cook, Gus Edwards, David Monty, CeeDee Lamb, Aiyuk, and Davante. I mean come on. Who scheduled this game? B.B. is projected 88 points. PeePaw is projected 147. This one is already over. I think PeePaw doubles up B.B.

v.

Teach v. Trashman

Teach is rocking the double stack, Tua, Tyreek, and Jaylen Waddle. Mixon and Rhamondre seem to be a good WR duo. Tee Higgins, Alex Pierce, Latavius Murray, and T.J. Hockenson round out the bunch. Trashman needs a win bad. T-Law, Aaron Jones, Chubb, Curty Same, Mark Andrews, and probably Allen Robinson. Teach is a about a 29 point favorite. Teach is coming off a loss and in a let down spot. Teach probably gets the bounce back here, but I don’t know.

v.

Batman v. Touchdown Guy

Batman just hopes that TDG makes this quick and painless. Batman has Lamar, Hubbard, DeVonta Smith, Olave, and Jakobi Meyers. TDG has the Tall Josh Allen back, D-Train, Josh Jacobs, Eno or James Conner we will see. Mike Evans, but he’s hurt. Cooper Kupp, Bob Woods, and George Kittle. TDG is a 52, yes 52 point favorite in this matchup. TDG wins an easy one.

v.

Pistol v. JonnyDIII’s Joyful Demons

Pistol could surprise some people here. Kyler is going up against a streaming QB. Michael Carter may have a big burst this weekend as the presumed lead back in New York at least for this matchup. Khalil Herbert has been sneaky and a TD would put him over the top. A.J. Brown is back too. Mix in Garrett Wilson, Tonyan, Pitts, and Sutton, these guys are all names that could make a splash. JD3 is on the waiver wire for a QB. Miles Sanders is back, Travis Etienne is the lone back for Jacksonville, Stefon Diggs is back, Ja’Marr, McLaurin, Pittman, Sing, and Cooks. JD3 has the bigger names, but they have to step up this week without Mahomes at the helm. JD3 is likely to be about a 28 point favorite come kickoff, we will have to see if he can get it done in this must win matchup.

Dr. Tilt’s Week 8 Prescription

Carolina Panthers @ Atlanta Falcons (-4.5)

The Bengals finally snapped the Falcons Cinderella undefeated ATS start.  The doc would normally expect more regression for the Falcons but the gift of the Panthers upset against the reeling Buccaneers has this line off by a few points.  Although a great effort from the Panthers after they’ve begun selling off their team, don’t expect the “we’re better without Christian McCaffrey” to show up two weeks in a row.  Falcons win going away and remain “1st” in the NFC South.

Tennessee Titans (-2) @ Houston Texans

Mike Vrabel just loves winning games when people don’t think his team is any good.  The people might end up being right in December and January but he makes them pay early on.  Back to the well for the third time for the Doc.  Don’t care who plays QB for the Titans, they get back the Texans in an ugly one.

San Francisco 49ers @ Los Angeles Rams o42.5

Speaking of Christian McCaffrey… these two teams were rumored to be the most aggressive in terms of trying to acquire him with McCaffrey making his debut with the 49ers last week.  Don’t think McVay doesn’t want to show he doesn’t need him coming off the bye?  Don’t you think San Fran plays to shove their new toy down the Rams throats.  In a divisional matchup that tends to be lean on points, expect a bit more offense on the turf in LA this week for two teams that both need a win.

**BONUS PICK**

Quick reminder, when Dr. Tilt goes 3-0 in a week, you get a bonus pick the following week.

Green Bay Packers @ Buffalo Bills (-10.5)

Speaking of teams that need a win, the Green Bay Packers.  This is simple logic here.  Let’s talk it out together.  If you lose to the Giants and are gifted a “get right” game against the Jets the following week, and then lose that game, but are gifted a second “get right” game against the Washington C-Words and lose that game your punishment is the heavy Super Bowl favorites on the road in primetime when they are coming off a bye.  This pick is as much about how bad the Packers currently are as it is how good the Bills are.  Aaron Rodgers has never finished as a double-digit underdog in his career.  There’s a good reason why.

Last week: 3-0

Season: 10-11

And now for an all-new power rankings.

Bruce is climbing up the rankings and Pistol is right where he wants to be. Teach suffered a loss and didn’t have a great offensive showing, the two leading scorers on the year jump him in the rankings. Sure, this is being hard on Teach but we aren’t grading on a curve here. Batman had a booming week so he gets a nice bump. With all the matchups being winning records versus losing records, there’s a solid chance these rankings are chalk next week.

That does it for this week. It should be an interesting weekend. We just saw a lot of upsets, but I don’t think that happens this week. I hope you aren’t upset this weekend and I hope you and yours have a better tomorrow.

Let’s Go!
