Pot Cakes Dynasty League Week 9 Preview

Good morning everyone, welcome to the Pot Cakes Dynasty League Week 9 Preview. I am not going to beat around the bush. This week is about one matchup and one matchup only. We have a potential Championship matchup. Team 1 from one division versus Team 1 of the other division. The 1 v. 2 seed. All that separates them is a game. A win by the 2, they become the new 1, a win by the 1 and we will find an excuse to say why he still has had the easiest schedule. Once we are done with those guys we got other matchups, Dr. Tilt who is flirting with .500 and an all-new power rankings. Let’s get to it.

Game of the week.

v.

Touchdown Guy v. Teach

For the millions and millions (or handful) of readers we have our biggest matchup of the year. The build up, the trash talk, the suspense all leads up to this right here. Touchdown Guy is no slouch when it comes to being lead dog in the PCDL, and slouch is the easiest way to describe Teach’s schedule so far. He’s had an easy road to success. Teach is the overall standings lead dog and TDG was the first lead dog having a championship under his belt. It is fitting that TDG is on the road to see if he can take down the regular season champ thus far. TDG v. Teach head to head let’s take a look. TDG has a huge height advantage in the QB matchup with Josh Allen against Tua Tagovailoa. But we have to get to the WRs. Teach is rocking the triple stack with Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill. TDG has Cooper Kupp and Mike Evans to match. The WR talent drops off for TDG with old familiar names and Teach has some newer guys. TDG has Robert Woods and Adam Thielen. Teach has K.J. Osborn, Tee Higgins, Alex Pierce, and Romeo Doubs. Teach is obviously deeper at the WR position, but that’s not necessarily a good thing. TDG has 3 RBs, Josh Jacobs, Derrick Henry, and Rob-Gibson. Yes, TDG is rocking both Washington backs. Maybe, just maybe, James Conner is back and TDG swaps out one of the Commanders, but who has the command this week for Washington? Gibby is showing to be the passing down back and if Washington shoots themselves in the foot and get behind, that’s bad news for Robinson. Teach has Joe Mixon and Rhamondre Stevenson. Mixon gets a lot of touches but the Bengals are so inconsistent that his production varies by their success. Rhamondre is going to face a fully healthy Damien Harris, so his production may decline a little this week. It will be interesting to see how these backs end up. At the TE position TDG has Hurst who could snipe a TD from Higgins and Teach has Hockenson who could snipe a TD from Thielen. This game is up for grabs as both teams are close in projections. TDG is almost a 3 point favorite and I think he takes the crown back.

v.

PeePaw v. Bruce

We got another tight one here. We just talked about a potential championship game, well both of these teams have been to the championship, and both of them lost. Neither of them have tasted the sweet taste of the championship trophy (no one has because our commissioner is something). PeePaw is a 9 point favorite, which seems low. PeePaw has Herbert, Cook, Monty, Foreman, Gus Bus, Davante, McKenzie, Jefferson, and Mikey T. CeeDee and Aiyuk are on bye. Bruce has Najee on bye which may be good for him because Najee stinks. Zeke is also on bye for Bruce and needs to heal up. Bruce has Joey B, Fournette, JT, Hollins and Renfrow, Boyd, Godwin, and Chris Godwin. The tight ends don’t matter in this one. With pretty much everyone but Waller in this matchup for the Las Vegas receivers someone has to have an advantage. That advantage might go to PeePaw since the Raiders put up very little points last week. Adams was held to no points last week so there is no way his best friend Derek Carr lets that happen again. PeePaw is the favorite and I think he gets it done.

v.

Daddy Wombat v. CrossFit

These teams do not like to set their lineups early. Daddy Wombat is fresh off of a lot of points. D.W. has Hurts putting up monster weeks and easily giving D.W. the edge over CrossFit who can either go Brady or Dak. Now we have some exciting RB matchups. D.W. has Kamara and Pierce and CrossFit has Ekeler and Mostert. Now due to the bye we got a lot of WRs. Daddy Wombat has Metcalf, D-Hop, Gabe Davis, Claypool, and Rondale Moore. CrossFit has Lockett, Duvernay, and St. Brown. The tight end matchup heavily favors CrossFit with Ertz and Kelce, D.W. has Tyler Higbee. D.W. will have to put up a lot of points against CrossFit to keep up. These two will likely be within 2 points of each other come kickoff. I think CrossFit gets it done, he just scores points.

v.

Trashman v. Pistol

This is a low scoring affair. Trashman only has Aaron Jones and Mark Andrews worth mentioning this week. Pistol has Kyler and A.J. Brown. Everyone else is projected under 10 points. Trashman will be about a 3-6 point favorite come kickoff, but I’m riding with the better QB and taking Pistol in this one. This short write up has nothing to do with last week, I mean do you want me to talk about A-Rob, Juice, White, Herbert, Toney, or Marshall? I didn’t think so.

v.

Mush’s Mongrels v. Batman

Mush is trying to trade guys, has traded for guys, have got picks, given up picks, it is confusing. A loss to Batman will ensure a rebuild. Geno is hot, Walker is running through people, Christian Kirk is still the WR1 for the Jags, and who why is Mush running two TEs? Batman has Lamar, maybe Swift, Olave, DeVonta, and Jackobi Meyers. Batman is going to be somewhere between a 5-9 point favorite and I’m going with that because he has the better QB and a little more juice at WR this week.

v.

JonnyDIII’s Joyful Demons v. Bottom Bunk

JD3 is favored by 50 points, B.B. is projected under 100 points. B.B. has 3 players that are plus 10 points projection, Mariota, Goedert, and Justin Tucker. Looking at just Goedert and Tucker, JD3 has 5 position players projected more points, Sanders, Etienne, Keenan, Diggs, and McLaurin. JD3 needs needs this but we will see how things shake out this weekend.

Dr. Tilt’s Week 9  Prescription

Seahawks (+2) @ Cardinals

These teams matched up just 3 weeks ago with the Seahawks winning outright and covering. Is it really that easy to just bet the Seahawks? The doc believes so. The Seahawks have been a darling to the betting public and those that identified their offensive efficiency being above the preseason expectations. In the previous matchup, the Cardinals only put up 9 points with a very high third down conversion rate which the doc expects to regress back to the mean due to Kliff’s ineptitude. Join the public and ride the dawg.

Chargers @ Falcons o49.5

Strength on weakness is the name of the game for both these offenses versus the opposing defenses. The Chargers, who boast a QB with a cannon for an arm, rank last in rate of passes thrown 10 plus yards down field. Checking down the ball much to all our dismay. However, the Falcons defense ranks last in success rate rank on checkdown passes. On the flipside, the Falcons are touting an impressive running attack and expecting to get Cordarrelle Patterson back. Unexpected to the public, the Falcon’s passing attack is all about going deep off play action. The offense is number 1 in air yards per passing attempt at 10 yards per attempt. Against the run, the Chargers rank 27th in defensive EPA. Against the deep ball, the Chargers defense ranks bottom 5 in any category that means anything. The doc loves both offenses having their way.

Colts @ Patriots (-5.5)

It appears that Jim Irsay has more say over the team than just if the roof is open or closed. Irsay seemed to step in and appoint Ehlinger as the starter then fire the offensive coordinator. That’s too much change for a young QB versus Belichick. Expect the Patriots to right the ship and stifle this rookie quarterback while getting Mac Jones back into the groove.

Last week: 2-2
Season Record: 12-13

And now for an all-new power rankings.

Not a lot of movement in the top. Pistol gets a huge bump with his big win. Bottom Bunk stinks. Daddy Wombat also gets a big bump due to all the points. Everyone else had bad weeks, if you mad score more points.

Well that does it for this week. I hope you and yours have a better tomorrow and survived the trade deadline. I cannot wait to see if Teach flunks out this weekend.

Let’s Go!
